On Thursday March 14, 2013 I attended a public meeting in the Midland Recreation Centre hosted by Mayor Gord Mckay. Also in attendance were a number of other Georgian Bay Mayors as well as the Federal MP Gord Stanton and Provincial MPP Garfield Dunlop.

Recently, there was a fire at Bayport Yachting Centre in Midland Ontario. Two boats were destroyed but fortunately, no one was injured. It did, however, get Scott Cain, Manager at Bayport, thinking and he is now strongly recommending that boaters install smoke detectors on their boat.
